Awards
for Environmental Educators

Betty Abbott Excellence in Teaching Award

Presented annually by the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania's Board
of Directors, the Betty Abbott Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes a
K-12 classroom teacher in southwestern Pennsylvania who inspires students
to become responsible stewards of the natural world through environmental
education.

Chevron Conservation Awards Program

The Chevron Conservation Awards Program recognizes contributions by individuals and organizations to the conservation of natural resources around the world. Six winners will receive a cash award of $15,000 to assist in their conservation work.

Do Something Brick Awards

The BRICK AWARD honors change makers under the age of 25. These are people who see the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action. Applications will be accepted from citizens and permanent residents of the U.S. and Canada. Applicants must be age 25 and under as of April 12, 2007. Winners receive up to $25,000 in grants and scholarships.

Earthwatch Institute Student Challenge Award

The Student Challenge Awards Program (SCAP) offers students aged 16-18 an opportunity to spend two to three weeks during the summer at a scientific research station. This program aims to support the research and education initiatives of scientists by providing mentoring opportunities, research grants, and the participation of high school students.

Ecology/Environmental Science Teaching Award

Vernier Software and the National Association of Biology Teachers honor one secondary school teacher who has successfully developed and demonstrated an innovative approach in the teaching of ecology/environmental science and has carried commitment to the environment into the community.

The program was developed to honor individuals who have created a legacy of groundwater protection. Three awards were founded to honor individuals who have created a legacy of groundwater protection through local action, education, and government service.

President's Environmental Youth Awards

The program recognizes young people across America for projects which demonstrate their commitment to the environment. Projects submitted in the past have covered a wide range of subject areas including recycling programs; construction of nature preserves; major tree planting programs; videos, skits, and newsletters created by students that focused on environmental issues; and environmental science projects.

 

Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award

The Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award will be awarded to an outstanding educator who has successfully integrated environmental education into his or her daily education programs. The award will be given to an educator who is creative, passionate and effective and who can serve as an inspiration and model for other educators.

A $5,000 cash award will be provided to this outstanding educator for his or her continued work in environmental education.
