Kodak American Greenways Awards

A partnership project that provides small grants to stimulate the planning and design of greenways in communities throughout America. Grants can be used for all appropriate expenses needed to complete a greenway project including planning, technical assistance, legal and other costs. Grants may not be used for academic research, general institutional support, lobbying, or political activities.

Kresge Foundation Bricks and Mortar Grants

Challenge grants for capital projects, most often construction or renovation of buildings and also the purchase of major equipment and real estate are awarded by the foundation. As challenge grants, they are intended to stimulate new, private gifts in the midst of an organized fund-raising effort. They offer special opportunities to build capacity, both in providing enhanced facilities in which to present programs and in strengthening the organization's ability to generate private support.

L.L. Bean Stewardship Grants

L.L. Bean and the American Canoe Association is providing funding and logistical assistance to local paddling clubs that undertake stewardship projects on local waterways.

Seeds For Education Grant Program

Project goals should focus on the enhancement and development of an appreciation for nature using native plants. Projects must emphasize involvement of students and volunteers and increase the educational value of the site. Creativity in design is encouraged, but must show complete and thoughtful planning. The use of and teaching about native plants and the native plant community is mandatory and must be appropriate to the local ecoregion and the site conditions (soil, water, sunlight).

Lowe’s Outdoor Classroom Grants

Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation, International Paper and National Geographic Explorer classroom magazine have partnered to create an outdoor classroom grant program to provide schools with additional resources to improve their science curriculum by engaging students in hands-on experiences outside the traditional classroom. All K-12 public schools in the United States are welcome to apply.

Melinda Gray Ardia Environmental Foundation, Ltd.

The Melinda Gray Ardia Environmental Foundation supports curricula that encourage students to become involved in solving environmental and social problems as informed decision makers through the emphasis and application of basic ecological principles. Grants of $1000 are provided to educators to develop or implement environmental curricula.

National Fish and Wildlife Foundation

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation provides grants to organizations who plan to build educational value on refuges so that visits, exposure and enthusiasm on public lands expand and continue; introduce a process to enhance critical thinking skills and better prepare students as future community leaders; and develop and nurture a strong sense of stewardship and civic pride using the refuge and community as outdoor classrooms.

National Geographic Teacher Grants

Teacher grants are given to educators to facilitate their work in promoting and increasing geographic literacy in the classroom, school, district, and/or community. Teacher Grant applications are accepted from any current teacher or administrator in an accredited K-12 school within the United States and Canada.

National Research Initiative- Biology of Weedy and Invasive Species

The goal of the program is to support inter-disciplinary experimental, observational, theoretical, and modeling studies of invasive species that lead to ecological and economic models in cost/benefit analyses of different management, control and elimination strategies.

National Weather Association

$500 grants are available annually to teachers in grades K - 12 from the NWA to help improve the education of their students in meteorology. The teachers selected will be able to use the funds to take an accredited course in atmospheric sciences, attend a relevant workshop or conference, or purchase scientific materials or equipment for the classroom.

PLT GreenWorks! Grants

GreenWorks! projects should address an environmental issue and involve students from pre-school to high school in hands-on community action. Some examples of past grant projects include stream clean-up, graffiti paint-over, outdoor classrooms, gardens, and schoolyard restoration.

The Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society

RecTAP grants have a maximum value of $1,500. Organizations providing community recreation and park services are eligible to apply for a RecTAP grant.
