Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Grants

The foundation is interested in higher education and research with an emphasis on science and technology; education in science and technology; and selected national issues, such as the environment.

American Honda Foundation

This program provides $10,000 - $100,000 for projects that meet the needs of youth, especially minority students. Projects in the past have included science, and environmental education improvement, including curriculum development.

Braitmayer Foundation Grants

The Foundation is interested in K-12 education throughout the United States, particularly curricular and school reform initiatives and preparation of professional development opportunities for teachers, particularly those which encourage people to enter and remain in K-12 teaching.

Captain Planet Foundation

The Captain Planet Foundation will fund as many projects as its annual resources allow. Projects must promote understanding of environmental issues, have hands-on involvement, involve children and young adults 6-18, and commit to follow-up communication with the Foundation.

Carnegie Corporation of New York Grant Programs

Support in secondary level for education reform from early childhood through higher education; early childhood development; and urban school reform are programs that the foundation provides. The foundation will also fund research on the increasing availability and success of after-school and extended service programs for children and teenagers, particularly those in urban areas, that promote high academic achievement.

Areas of Schwab branch offices and service centers that can help improve the quality of life in the company's operating communities are the grants the corporate foundation makes to nonprofits. Categories of support include K-12 education, educational and community-based arts programs, and others. Requests also are considered for projects/programs addressing environmental, and conservation. Types of support include general support, building funds, donated equipment, project grants, annual campaigns, internships, and employee matching gifts.

Grant amounts range from $100-$40,000

Chesapeake Bay Trust Soliciting Proposals for Pioneer Grants

The Pioneer Grants program is designed to encourage and promote ideas, partnerships and projects that advance Bay restoration.

Coca-Cola Foundation Grants

The foundation has established education and set aside most of its funds to support educational initiatives that address pressing needs. To help prepare youth for life, the foundation gives in three areas: higher education--pipeline programs that connect various levels of education and help students stay in school, scholarships, and minority advancement; classroom teaching and learning--innovative K-12 projects, teacher development, and small projects that deal with classroom activities; and global education--projects that encourage international studies, global understanding, and student exchange.

Dept of Ed Comprehensive Regional Assistance Centers Grants

The U.S. Department of Education is providing funding to states and school districts, primarily through formula-based grant programs, to improve elementary and secondary schools and meet the special needs of students. They are also providing funding to help strengthen teaching and learning in colleges and other postsecondary institutions and to support rehabilitation, adult education, research and development, statistics, and assessment.

Dept of Ed Teacher Quality Enhancement--Partnership Grants

Funds may be used to carry out reforms in the way teachers are recruited and prepared with a view toward developing improved clinical experiences; adopting reforms in licensing and certification requirements; developing improved recruitment and hiring procedures for new teachers; and conducting professional development in the use of technology to improve education. .

Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)

This organization provides both grant and loan programs. The site contains a list of the programs that are currently being offered and other PA organizations that offer financial assistance.
