Goal: Keep area residents apprised of electric supplier activities

Activity: American Solar Energy Society
Goal: Renewable energies

Activity: Many energy providers used to have public speaker groups to educate the public but since the deregulation, many of the education resources companies invested in, have been cut.

Goal: Promote their availability and or teach the public how to do the audits themselves and a way to offer the equip. on loan/rent.
Possible Partners: Realtors, DIY centers, home builder assoc., green manufacturers, manufacturers of home building and furnishing products.

Idea: Start a group to do energy audits in the home like product parties.

Idea: Education that accompanies weatherization done for low income families and individuals.

Goal: Work together for unbiased education of community. Plant tours, etc…

Partner Contribution: Facilitate and fund organization of group

Need: Brochures on conservation and how much energy one person uses.

Goal: Alert consumers who pay the bills to what the options are.

Need: Legislative support for initiatives
Need: Start a grassroots lobbying effort

Goal: Educate the public on building and designing homes for energy savings
Possible Partners: Builders, architects
Partner Contribution: Advertise themselves as energy efficient builders – this will help them get more clients.

Need: Teach people about financial incentives to conserve energy.
Goal: Tie in with consumer education programming
Possible Partner: Local banks
Partner Contribution: Loans for certain items, i.e. for homeowners

Need: Train senior environmental corps to do home energy audits, have a local skill group provide the audits or have a vo-tech school offer it as a class.
Goal: The groups would provide the service free or at a nominal fee. The groups groups would also provide education and information on products to do make the necessary energy efficient changes for themselves.
Possible Partners: DIY centers, local skill groups
Partner Contribution: Education, information, service

Need: Workshops for home builders and contractors

April 2, Southwest Region

Need: Get churches and church members to do energy audits and build it around economics
Goal: Promote their results so that others will do it
Possible Partner: DIY centers, contractors, small businesses
Partner Contribution: Provide the information, “how-to” education, and possibly equipment to do the audits with the expectation that their business would be used to make the home more energy efficient.

Need: Displays at fairs and festivals
Goal: Energy consumption information – alternatives to traditional energy

Need: Mission Possible
Goal: Monthly environmental project promoted in the newspaper would include a worksheet to be completed and returned for a prize
Possible Partners: All media, businesses to donate prizes

April 3, Northwest Region

Goal: Connect the message to the wallet – lifestyle impacts
Possible Partner: Local and state governments

Goal: Focus on all “costs” including war, infrastructure, social justice – look at disincentives
Possible Partner: Car manufacturers, state agencies
Partner Contribution: Proactive initiatives in lieu of fines, more efficient state vehicles, demonstration cars, alternative fuel grants
