Roundtable
Meetings: Twelve meetings were conducted across the state
to collect ideas and recommendations for adult environmental
education.
Process: Participants chose
from seven roundtable discussion groups to address one of
the following seven challenges: Air Quality, Biodiversity,
Energy, Land Use, Waste, Water Quality, and Sustainable Development,
Renewable Resources. UtilizingOpen Space Technology, participants
were open to move from one challenge to another at their leisure,
allowing the opportunity to provide input in a number of discussions.
When time and the size of the group allowed, a second group
formed to address a given challenge.
Each group addressed the following
identical questions:
· What is your assessment of the availability of air
quality education for adults in your county or community?
· What air quality education
activities are occurring in your county/community?
· Are there opportunities to
build on the air quality education activities mentioned above?
· What is needed to improve
air quality education for adults, that is not addressed in
question 3. What products, tools, services, etc
Participants:
Of the twelve meetings held across the state, the number of
participants ranged from two to forty-four. Evening meetings
from 7 - 9 p.m. were always smaller in number. Represented
were state agencies, school districts, community and state
colleges, non-profit organizations, business owners and local
residents. In cases where no interest was expressed, some
challenged went unaddressed.
The results of each meeting are
provided as they were collected, with no filter. If no data
is available under a particular challenge, none was provided.
Results of the discusssions are grouped
by "Challenge".
