With gasoline prices on the rise and global climate change a reality, Pennsylvanians are looking for innovative ways to reduce their dependence on oil. Several alternative fuel vehicles are being researched, including cars and trucks that run on ethanol, biodiesel, hydrogen and electricity.

Although there are some electric cars available, they are few in number or very expensive. Newer models are being developed by several different companies that will allow more people access to electric cars. Electric cars may be a viable alternative to those that run on gasoline, but they also have some drawbacks.
