Pennsylvania is host to a wide variety of bird species that are easily observed throughout the year. Of the 430 different species that have been reported, 290 are considered commonplace by the Pennsylvania Society for Ornithology.

People may not be aware that many of the songbirds we see in our yards during the summer are neotropical, meaning that they travel thousands of miles south to spend their winter in tropical climates.
