Currently, most of our energy comes from nonrenewable resources. The
decay of plants and animals over millions of years is required to form coal, oil, and natural gas, and are known as 'fossil fuels'. These fossil fuels are nonrenewable because they are
being consumed faster than
they are being created.
More than 90 percent of Pennsylvania’s energy comes from fossil fuels. Because we may run out of nonrenewable resources and the consumption and production of this kind of energy creates pollution, Pennsylvania aims to use 25 percent of its energy from renewable resources by the year 2025.
