Pennsylvania residents use 14.3 billion gallons of water each day; 13.7 billion of this is returned to the environment. This means that each of us has a responsibility to use water in ways that do not harm aquatic life and other water users downstream.

A watershed is the land area from which surface runoff drains into a stream, channel, lake, reservoir, or other body of water. As a result, streams, lakes, and other bodies of water are affected by what happens in their watershed.
