BATS!!

Bats often make people think of Halloween and vampires and spooky creatures of the night.

But beyond the myths and superstitions, bats are gentle animals that are virtually harmless to humans. They play an extremely beneficial role in the ecosystem by consuming huge amounts of mosquitoes and other insects nightly.

THERE ARE AT LEAST NINE SPECIES OF BATS FOUND IN PENNSYLVANIA. OF THESE, THE INDIANA BAT (Myotis sodalis) IS FEDERALLY LISTED AS ENDANGERED.
What do scientists believe is a primary cause for the Indiana Bat's decline?

predation of pups due to increase in predator populations
