Corn is a type of biomass capable of being converted into liquid fuels.

Improved technology allows engines such as those in cars, diesel generators, and those in industrial operations to be powered by the liquid fuel derived from corn.

Bio-diesel is produced when ethanol is combined with oil. Ethanol is produced when corn undergoes fermentation. Ethanol can then be combined with oil extracted from other crops such as soybeans, rapeseed, animal fats, or other biomass.

Corn is an attractive energy source because it is a renewable resource. Currently, we rely on energy obtained from nonrenewable resources, such as coal, oil, and natural gas.

Are there other sources of biomass that can be used to generate energy?
