So, what exactly is Non-Point Pollution?

Non-Point Source Pollution is any contamination that originates from many locations that all discharge into a location (e.g., a lake, stream, land area).

Soil erosion, Nutrient runoff, and Abandoned Mine Drainage are all sources of Non Point Pollution

Point Source Pollution is when pollutants are discharged from a single identifiable location (e.g., pipes, ditches, channels, sewers, tunnels, containers of various types).
This is an example of Point-source Pollution
Here, a direct link can be made that points to the cause of water pollution
Remember that non-point pollution results from many contaminants in an area, while non-point pollution is a result of many contaminants over a broad area
While Point-source may be easier for an individual to identify,
Non Point Pollution is the Number 1 cause of degredation to our state's and nation's waterways
We all contribute to non-point pollution. How can we reduce our contribution of pollution?
