Position Title: Camp Counselor

Position Type: Seasonal

Position Location: Philadelphia, PA

Organization: The Philadelphia Zoo, Education Department

Duties:Under the direction of the Summer Camp Director, performs all vital functions of the in-zoo Summer Day Camps: animal pick up; create and present educational lessons.

Qualifications:

1. Working towards or maintains a degree in Education, Biology, or related field.
2. Has had past experience working with children and animals.
3. Ability to work accurately and cheerfully under pressure.
4. Ability to learn detailed information about the Zoo’s animal collection and exhibits.
5. Excellent customer service skills; ability to communicate effectively with visitors, supervisors and co-workers.
6. Professional appearance and manner.
7. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
8. Excellent presentation skills and the ability to adapt to audiences of different ages and sizes.
9. Ability to adapt to changes in schedule and daily assigned responsibilities.
10. Ability to speak comfortably and present lively demonstrations to camp audiences
11. Ability to work well with a large and diverse team.
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Salary: $9.00/hour
