The Pennsylvania Center for Environmental Education (PCEE) was created by
executive order from the governor in 1996. The overall goals of the PCEE are
to disseminate environmental education (EE) information and materials,
facilitate partnerships for the purpose of providing EE, assist in professional
development in EE, and integrate EE into higher education. Government,
business, and industry, as well as non-profit organizations, all contribute to
various center projects.
As part of its Professional Development Initiative, PCEE has developed four
modules: 1) The History and Philosophy of Environmental Education, 2) Finding and
Choosing Environmental Education Materials, 3) Teaching About Environmental
Issues, and 4) Methods forTeaching Environmental Education. The modules are
appropriate for non-formal and formal educators, and students in pre-service
teacher preparation programs. They can be mixed and matched based on the
target audience and training program goals. We hope you find the publications
useful. Please let us know. We want your feedback!
