Organization: Strawberry Hill Nature Center
Position Title: Fall Environmental Internship
(mid-September through early December)
Description:
During the spring and fall, the full-time seasonal intern will assist with Strawberry Hill’s environmental education programs and natural resource management projects. The successful applicant will be interested in learning about and assisting with all aspects of the operation of a small nonprofit nature center.
Qualifications:
• Experience working with groups of children; teaching experience a plus
• Enthusiasm for, and a basic knowledge of, the natural world
• Ability to walk/hike the main teaching trails on the preserve
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in a wide range of weather
• Excellent communication skills
• Enthusiastic self-starter who enjoys working in a small organization
• Must have own transportation
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teach students of all ages, both in the field and in the classroom.
• Maintain Nature Classroom exhibits, displays, and live animals (including snakes).
• Greet visitors to the Nature Classroom. Represent Strawberry Hill at off-site events.
• Perform basic office duties.
• Assist with natural resource management projects and basic trail maintenance.
• Assume other responsibilities as directed by Environmental Education Coordinator or Preserve Manager.
Internship Stipends & Accommodations
Private housing (a cottage by a singing stream) and a $150/week stipend
