Job Title: Education Program Contracted Facilitator

Department: Regional Environmental Education Center, Allegheny County

Hours: On an as-needed basis

Salary: $12.00 / hour

Availability: Positions are open until filled.

Location: Upper St. Clair, Pa.

Minimum Requirements:  

The REEC welcomes a variety in instructor backgrounds and strengths focusing on but not limited to an applicable working knowledge of Southwestern Pennsylvania ecology and current environmental issues, formal and/or non-formal educational experience with students of varying ages and abilities, the ability to “think on your feet” and adapt to teachable moments when they present themselves, good group management skills (in an outdoor setting is preferred) and the ability to connect your students to the environment in a way that is tangible to them creating lasting memories and knowledge retention. As well as Pennsylvania Act 34, 151 and 114 clearances, CPR and First Aid Certification, and Reliable transportation to and from program sites.

Position Summary:   

We’re currently looking for energetic, motivated, outdoor individuals to teach our hands-on curriculum to students ages 2 through adult via school programs, daytime and evening naturalist hikes, environmental camps and more both on and off site. With flexible schedules and a beautiful setting these positions are ideal for individuals who work well as a cohesive team and just as strongly as an independent instructor; who have a love for the environment and the willingness to teach in and about it to encourage better decisions in both future and current generations. Individuals will need to hike moderately while keeping the attention of a wide variety of educational groups, carry equipment to and from field sites within the park and work well outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
