Organization: Outdoor Center at Georgia College

Position Title: Lecturer in Kinesiology

Position Type:  12-month position

Position Location:  Milledgeville, Ga.

Responsibilities:

This position will include teaching courses in the outdoor education academic program and administrative responsibility for the Outdoor Center at Georgia College. 

1. Collaborate with outdoor education faculty to coordinate, supervise, and evaluate compliance with accreditation requirements; 
2. Collaborate with outdoor education faculty to provide management oversight to Lake Laurel Campus and outdoor education equipment and facilities; 
3. Supervise and train Outdoor Center graduate assistants and program staff; 
4. Market Outdoor Center programs and services to GCSU faculty, staff, students; and local and regional community groups and organizations; 
5. Seek external funding for GCSU mission enhancement programs and services; 
6. Develop and monitor a strategic plan for expanding professional develop programs for outdoor and experiential educators and institutional and local community outdoor recreation programs; 
7. Collaborate with existing GCSU programs to enhance the public liberal arts mission.  

Required Qualifications:

1. Masters degree in Outdoor Education or related discipline; 
2. Experience teaching in higher education; 
3. Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based program evaluation; 
4. Experience in personnel administration, marketing, fiscal management, and facility/equipment management related to adventure-based programs and services; 
5. Current Wilderness First Responder; 
6. Familiarity with the Association for Experiential Education Accreditation Program standards and policy

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience in grant writing and administering external funding for adventure-based programs and services; 
2. Experience implementing service learning, leadership development, environmental education, and/or a range of technical and professional training programs; 
3. Experience leading a broad range of outdoor pursuits and challenge course programs.
