Position Title: Environmental Specialist
Position Location: Pittsburgh, Pa.
Description:
The Imagine Environmental Charter School at Frick Park is seeking to employ a full-time environmental specialist to work with primary-aged students, an energetic faculty and an additional environmental specialist/coordinator. The ES will work closely with environmental specialist/coordinator to implement place-based curriculum to students in kindergarten through fourth grade. The ES must be highly motivated, with a willingness to engage students in environmental and science content in unique, hands-on applications. The ES applicant should be a flexible and creative thinker, have strong problem-solving skills and be able to instruct effectively in both indoor and outdoor settings
Qualifications:
A successful applicant will have the following credentials:
- K-6 Certification
- Background knowledge and experience in environment and ecology content
- Teaching experience using the PA Environment and Ecology and Science and Technology Standards
- Clear understanding and application of inquiry-based science instruction
- Deep understanding of native plant and animal life and/or regional ecosystems
- Ability to express connections and design instruction that reflects the relationship between the natural and built environments
- Ability to think across curriculum content areas and adapt environment and science strands in traditional reading and math instruction
- Ability to utilize outdoor areas for a variety of instructional purposes
