PCEE Web Site Policies

Web Site Content Criteria

1. The PCEE web site is to provide environmental education resources for all Pennsylvanians. Materials placed on the PCEE web site must be materials that are useful for all Pennsylvanians or environmental educators in Pennsylvania.

2. Materials included on the PCEE web site must relate to environmental education, (EE). "Environmental Education is a learning process concerned with the interrelationships among components of the natural and human-made world, producing growth in the individual, and leading to responsible stewardship of the earth." (Pa. EE Master Plan, 1984)

3. The PCEE uses the following tools to help us determine whether it is appropriate to be placed on our web site:

4. The PCEE assumes that since information posted on the Internet can be accessed by anyone, specific permission to link is not needed. We will, however, unlink from a site if the sponsor so requests.

5. The PCEE assumes responsibility for all material on our web site that is authored or sponsored by The Center. Such materials are clearly designated as originating from the PCEE. Other materials placed or linked on the PCEE web site, originating from other sources, do not have the official endorsement of the PCEE.


Principles for Information Disseminated on the PCEE Site

1. Authorship should be defined.
2. Source of the information should be evident.
3. Sponsorship should be clearly identifiable.
4. Information should be easy to use.
5. The target audience should be clearly stated.
6. Details on how to contact the provider of the information should be evident.
7. Information must be reliable and follow appropriate copyright procedures.
8. The materials should not contain material that might be offensive to people due to their sex, religious beliefs, race, or national origin.
9. Material must be free of vulgar or salacious language or pictures.
10. Materials designed for lobbying or solely for advertisement are inappropriate.
